Feds probe Ukrainian lobbyists who attended Trump inauguration

Federal prosecutors are reportedly probing Ukrainian lobbyists who attended President Trump’s inaugural ball as part of Robert Mueller’s sprawling investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

These investigations have focused on about a dozen Ukrainians who came to Washington D.C. to promote a Russian-friendly ‘peace plan’ and the prospect of lifting sanctions on rogue actors in the region, according to The New York Times.

Prosecutors are asking about “illegal foreign lobbying related to Ukraine” and whether other countries “used straw donors to disguise donations to the inaugural committee,” the paper said.

Furthermore, it was revealed last month that Trump’s inaugural committee is under criminal investigation for possible financial abuses related to the more than $100 million in donations.

The new revelation about the probe into the Ukrainian lobbyists comes as it was revealed former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort had spoken about a Ukraine-Russia “peace plan” to an associate with ties to Russian intelligence.
