Bride attacked on wedding day by sword-wielding hedge fund manager

A hedge fund manager from New York was arrested over the weekend for attacking and threatening to kill a bride on her wedding day — with a sword, cops said.

Carlos Mejia, 43, allegedly set upon the woman outside a hotel room at the Crystal Springs Resort in Hamburg, New Jersey.

He had been arguing with her and members of the bridal party after being denied a cigarette, according to the New Jersey Herald.

Mejia went to his room at one point, retrieved the sword, and then returned to slash the woman on her left arm, causing non life-threatening injuries, cops said.

He also allegedly swung the weapon at several others and threatened to kill them before eventually being disarmed by hotel guests. No one else was hurt.

Sources told the Herald that Mejia was in Hamburg on business. He’s reportedly worked as a city hedge fund manager for over a decade and even opened offices in his home country of Colombia.

Cops said Mejia appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the attack. He is facing numerous charges, including assault with bodily injury and terroristic threats.

The businessman was reportedly booked into the Sussex County Jail and released, pending a court appearance.
