It’s hard to transform the horrors of puberty into something hilarious and fun, but that’s exactly what one of Netflix’s best animated originals does. Big Mouth‘s second season was just as sweetly gross and oddly insightful as its first. If you’re anything like us you’ve probably already binge-watched the whole season, leaving you with one nagging question. Will there be a Big Mouth Season 3?
Created by Nick Kroll, Andrew Goldberg, Jennifer Flackett, and Mark Levin, Big Mouth tells the stories of a group of preteen boys and girls struggling through the horrors of getting older. Together with their Hormone Monsters, they learn of the excitement and shame of masturbation, crushes, and teenage rebellion. Puberty is a messy and confusing thing, and Big Mouth wonderfully captures this confusing mess. So when can we expect more of this heartfelt horror story?
Will there be a Big Mouth Season 3?
At the moment Netflix hasn’t announced any plans for a third season. But considering how much critics like Big Mouth Season 2, there’s a chance another installment is in the works. This new season currently has a 100 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, just like Season 1.
When will Big Mouth Season 3 premiere?
If there is a third season, there’s a good chance it’ll drop in the fall of 2019. Most Netflix shows release new seasons on a yearly basis. Both Seasons 1 and 2 were released in late September and early October.
What could happen in Big Mouth Season 3?
Oh so much. But beware, there be spoilers ahead.
Season 2 ended with Nick (Nick Kroll) getting a new Hormone Monster, or should we say Monstress. Connie (Maya Rudolph) is now in charge of Nick’s puberty, which means he’s in capable hands that love “buh-bahl bayyyths.” But Connie’s reassignment means that one key character is currently without a Hormone Monster — Jessi (Jessi Klein).
Season 2 ended with Jessi abandoning her Hormone Monstress and embracing the Depression Kitty (Jean Smart). Does this mean that Jessi will stay depressed throughout next season? What’s going on with Missy’s (Jenny Slate) puberty? Will she even get a Hormone Monster? And how will Jay (Jason Manzoukas) respond to his unfolding sexuality?
Like the song says, these kids are going through changes, and we want to watch in the least creepy way possible.
