Suspect arrested for sexually assaulting woman at gunpoint in park

A homeless man was arrested for robbing and sexually assaulting a woman inside Inwood Hill Park, authorities said Thursday.

Alian Puello, 18, was arrested Wednesday around 10 p.m. for the Monday evening attack on a 37-year-old woman, police said.

The woman was walking inside the park near the corner of West 218th Street and Indian Road just before 6:30 p.m., when Puello approached her and flashed a black gun — later determined to be a BB gun, police said.

He snatched her wallet and gold iPhone SE, then forced her to perform a sex act on him, cops said.

Puello ran off after the attack, but was arrested days later after a 911-caller made an anonymous tip.

The homeless man told police he had smoked marijuana prior to his encounter with the victim, a law enforcement source said.

He was charged with criminal sex act, criminal possession of a weapon and two counts of robbery, cops said. Investigators found the BB gun inside the park on Wednesday.
