Trump to Dems threatening investigation: ‘Two can play that game!’

A defiant President Trump vowed to go after Democrats who said they would launch a number of investigations against him after gaining control of the House in the midterm elections, saying “two can play this game.”

“If the Democrats think they are going to waste Taxpayer Money investigating us at the House level, then we will likewise be forced to consider investigating them for all of the leaks of Classified Information, and much else, at the Senate level. Two can play that game!,” Trump wrote on his Twitter account Wednesday.

Democrats won control of the House in Tuesday’s elections, but Republicans retained a majority in the Senate.

In gaining control of the chamber, Democrat members will head up the committees and gain subpoena power.

They have said they would do a deep dive into Trump’s finances, including the tax returns he has not released publicly, his hard-line immigration policies and the turning back of some of the provisions in ObamaCare.

“This election was about accountability,” Rep. Jerry Nadler, who will probably chair the Judiciary Committee next year, told CNN. “Donald Trump may not like hearing it, but for the first time, his administration is going to be held accountable.”

Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff, who is expected to become the head of the House Intelligence Committee, said they will give full support to special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia probe.

“We will take our oversight responsibilities seriously, both with respect to the intelligence agencies under our charge but also with respect to any work left undone in the Russia probe by the majority,” Schiff told ABC News.

But Rep. Nancy Pelosi said they won’t take up impeaching Trump – yet.

“For those who want impeachment, that’s not what our caucus is about,” Pelosi told PBS’ “News Hour” on Tuesday before all the election results were in, adding that Republicans would have to be on board with ousting Trump.

Pelosi, who is expected to make a run to once again to become House Speaker, got an endorsement on Wednesday from the president.

“In all fairness, Nancy Pelosi deserves to be chosen Speaker of the House by the Democrats. If they give her a hard time, perhaps we will add some Republican votes. She has earned this great honor!,” Trump said.
