Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the road-rage death of an off-duty firefighter on a Brooklyn highway, according to a report.
The man was tracked down by the NYPD and US marshals at the Circle Motor Lodge in South Amboy, NJ, where he was arrested, law enforcement sources told WNBC.
The suspect is being held at the 62nd Precinct in Brooklyn. His girlfriend also is at the precinct, though it was not immediately clear if she faces charges.
Bravest Faizal Coto, 33, who worked out of Engine 245 / Ladder 161 in south Brooklyn, was driving east on the Belt Parkway at Bath Street about 4:45 a.m. Sunday when he got into an argument with another motorist.
When they pulled over near Exit 4 to hash it out, police believe, the other driver hit Coto over the head with an unknown object before getting back into his silver Infiniti and taking off.
Police sources said the Infiniti is registered to a known gangbanger.
Coto, who lived in Brooklyn and had been an FDNY firefighter for three years, suffered puncture wounds that were not consistent with a car crash, cops have said.
