Cyclist killed after being ‘doored’ by cab in Brooklyn

A bicyclist was killed in Brooklyn early New Year’s Day after an opening taxi door hurled him into the path of another passing car, cops said.

The 26-year-old man was riding an e-bike north on Third Avenue near 28th Street in Greenwood Heights around 6:15 a.m. when a parked cab swung open its door in his path, police said.

The cyclist was catapulted over the door into the path of oncoming traffic — where another car rammed into him, cops said.

He was taken to NYU Langone Hospital–Brooklyn, where he was pronounced dead.

Both the cabbie and the other driver remained on scene and no arrests were immediately made.

The bicyclist’s name was withheld pending family notification.
