Editorial shake-up set to begin at Hearst Magazines

The long-rumored changes at Hearst Magazines under President Troy Young are said to be getting under way this week now that the holidays are over.

Among the big changes, Cosmopolitan publisher Donna Lagani, who landed there when the late Helen Gurley Brown was still running the show, will exit but will land safely somewhere in the Hearst Tower. Also Maria Baugh, executive managing editor of Cosmo, Women’s Health and Seventeen, resigned and is said to be heading to WeWork.

On the editorial side, Ellen Payne’s job as head of editorial operations is said to be getting wiped out, but she is landing at Harper’s Bazaar.

And Lehah Wyar Romito, who was Hearst chief beauty director, exited Jan. 1. Sources say many of the chief editors and publishers who survive are being asked to take salary haircuts.
