Trump, Dems don’t reach shutdown deal after White House meeting

The Trump administration and Congressional Democrats remained at loggerheads on Wednesday after a White House sitdown on funding for border security — meaning the government shutdown will likely continue for the foreseeable future.

President Trump demanded that Democrats cough up $5 billion for his long-promised border wall, while Democrats have offered $1.3 billion.

Afterward, GOP and Democratic lawmakers held dueling press briefings in which each side blamed the other.
