Brendan Rodgers’ move to Leicester City has destroyed his legacy at Celtic and means he will NEVER be remembered as a legend in Glasgow, according to Sir Rod Stewart.
The Scottish champions confirmed the Northern Irishman had left the club to return to the Premier League on Tuesday, and the manager’s move was met with widespread disdain north of the border.
Rodgers leaves the club as one of their most successful managers in history.

He won every piece of silverware available to him during his two-and-a-half years in charge at Parkhead, winning seven straight titles while also overseeing a record-breaking unbeaten season.
The coach was also on course to lead Celtic to a historic ‘treble treble’ this season, but left to join Leicester with two months of the campaign left to play, and the timing of his move has incensed supporters.
And Stewart – the British rock legend and Celtic Park regular – says the manager only had to delay his departure until the summer to ensure his status as a Celtic great.
“If Brendan had just stayed until the end of the season, he could have been a legend,” he told Alan Brazil on Thursday’s Sports Breakfast.
“We would have said goodbye in good spirits, he could have had a statue with Jimmy Johnstone, Jock Stein and Billy McNeill up at Celtic Park.
“If he’d stayed with us and give us the ‘treble treble’, we’d have bowed down and kissed his feet.

“It would have been three years, he’s done everything and he’s taken us as far as he could. Europe to us is the glass ceiling, we just can’t get through it at this moment.
“He would have been loved by everybody. But now? No way.”
While fans are likely to remain bitter, the Celtic team appear to have already moved on after sealing their first win under returning caretaker boss Neil Lennon on Wednesday.
Supporters unveiled a scathing banner directed at Rodgers ahead of the 2-1 victory over Hearts, which read: ‘Never a Celt, always a fraud’.
But Stewart have urged Bhoys fans to put their manager’s out-of-the blue exit behind them and start looking to the future.
“Me and all the Celtic supporters, we’ve got to move on,” he added.
“We’re all bitter, there was a banner in the crowd last night that said, ‘never a Celt, always a fraud’, and I think that says it all.

“But we’ve got to move on, wish him luck and wish Leicester luck now.
“We’re still hurt but I think we should now forget all about it and move on.”
