Ally McCoist believes in-demand coach Zinedine Zidane would NOT be the right man for Chelsea.
Recent reports have linked the former Real Madrid boss with replacing under-pressure Maurizio Sarri at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri is already under pressure at Stamford Bridge.
Blues bosses are said to be considering firing the Italian just eight months into his reign after watching the side slip down to sixth in the Premier League table.
Sarri’s reign began really well with 18 unbeaten games, but that strong start has unravelled in recent weeks, with a 4-0 defeat to Bournemouth and 6-0 thrashing at Manchester City perhaps spelling the beginning of the end for the ex-Napoli chief.
The club’s top brass are said to be keen on bringing Zidane to the Bridge, in the hope the three-time Champions League winning coach can turn around their fortunes in Europe.
Zinedine Zidane won nine trophies in two-and-a-half years as Real Madrid manager
But talkSPORT host McCoist has his doubts…
“Zidane had fantastic success at Real Madrid, but it’s a completely different club with different values to Chelsea,” said the Rangers legend on the Sports Breakfast.
“Real Madrid’s supporters have been dealt a brand of football that is absolutely all-out attack, whether that’s Ronaldo, Benzema, Bale, all these guys whereas Chelsea are certainly different.
“So I’m not sure if it’s a great fit to be honest.”
Ally also criticised Chelsea for their hiring and firing of managers and insists Sarri deserves more time to turn the team’s torrid form around.
He added: “Chelsea won’t stick with their man for long, because that’s just Chelsea, but in my opinion he deserves more time. Absolutely he deserves more time!
“He’s not been at the club two minutes, really. They’ve had some good performance and some defensively shocking performances – Bournemouth stuck four past them, Man City scored six – but does he deserve more time? Of course he does!”
