Kate Middleton Gets Sporty Abroad
The
Duchess of Cambridge is known for being the sportiest of royals, and when she and
Prince William traveled to Stockholm in late January, Kate, who was well into her pregnancy, played a game of “bandy hockey.” She made a goal while wearing a sweater by Swedish brand Fjällräven. (She’s got a knack for fashion diplomacy, that one!)

The Queen Sits Front Row at London Fashion Week
Queen Elizabeth made an unannounced visit to London Fashion Week in February, where she sat in the front row next to
Anna Wintour. She wore a powder blue dress and jacket by
Angela Kelly and presented the Elizabeth II Award for British Design to 28-year-old
Richard Quinn.

The Fab Four Take the Stage
On February 28,
Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, Kate, and William
spoke at the Royal Foundation Forum where they laid out their charitable missions; it was their first major event as a foursome. Since then, there have been rumors that Harry and William are working through a
tense time in their relationship, though the fab four will spend Christmas with the rest of the family at Sandringham.

Prince Louis Makes His Debut
Prince Louis was born on April 23, and mere hours later, he made his appearance in front of the Lindo Wing in the
arms of his mother, just like his brother and sister before him.

Harry’s Wedding Lip Bite
When Harry saw Meghan walk down the aisle, he did not keep his feelings to himself. Anyone who was watching the ceremony in Windsor saw the cinnamon prince mouth “you look amazing” and
bite his lower lip. The royals aren’t often expressive people, keeping P.D.A. to a minimum, so this was a rare window into the romance of the relationship (and into Harry’s cheeky affinity for breaking the rules).

The Day British Royals Went to Church
Have you ever seen a bunch of Brits used to very solemn church services get blown away by a preacher who asks for audience participation and makes reference to the history of slavery? It’s not every day that the Queen of England is asked to raise her hand in church. But the Most Reverend Michael Bruce Curry, who gave the sermon at Harry and Meghan’s wedding, took the opportunity to take American gospel across the pond.

Prince George and Savannah Phillips Duke It Out in Public
Poor
Prince George has a hard time when his cousin
Savannah Phillips is around. The 7-year-old
covered her younger cousin’s mouth at Trooping of the Colour, and then
pushed him down a hill at the Maserati Royal Charity Polo not long after. Watch out, George! You may be the future king, but she’s still bigger than you.

Charlotte Gains Sassy-Older-Sister Status
On July 9, Prince Louis was christened at St. James’s Church in London, where his older sister informed the assembled photographers, “You’re not coming.” The 3-year-old is already well known for her charming talent of waving at formal events and sticking her tongue out at her uncle’s wedding (like he did many years ago). There’s bound to be more antics in her future.

Princess Eugenie’s Wedding Dress Displays Her Back-Surgery Scars
Eugenie’s wedding dress on October 12 was an open-back gown that displayed the scars she received from her scoliosis surgery when she was 12. The dress, made by British designers
Peter Pilotto and
Christopher De Vos, was specifically made to show off the scars, at the request of the princess. “Children can look at me now and know that the operation works,” she wrote on the
Web site of the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, where she is a patron.

Meghan and Harry’s Little Joey
On October 15, Meghan and Harry announced that they were expecting their first child, due in the spring of next year. The couple broke the news just as they arrived Down Under for a tour of Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, and Tonga, and on their first day in Sydney,
they received a stuffed-animal kangaroo and a tiny pair of Uggs from Governor-General Sir
Peter and
Lady Cosgrove.
